Two Copper Leaf Brewing Co. facilities, including one that recently reopened in Pittsford, appear to have permanently closed, the latest of several recent craft brewery closures in the Finger Lakes region over the past few months.
The Pittsford Copper Leaf plant’s Facebook page said in a March 9 post that it was “permanently closed,” but the owners had no further comment. It reopened late last year under new owner Jorge Chavez.
The store on Mount Hope Avenue in the college town of Rochester (same owner) also appears to have closed, just months after being advertised to open on the weekend of November 1, 2025. Beerhead Bar & Eatery once operated here.
Email and phone messages left for the owner were not immediately returned.
Judging from social media posts, it appears both Copper Leaf Brewing Co. locations, including this one in Pittsford, have permanently closed.
Several Finger Lakes craft breweries recently closed
The closing of Copper Leaf follows the recent closures of Rebel Sailor Brewing Co. in Shortsville, which closed on Feb. 28 after three years in operation, and Triphammer Bierworks in Fairport, which closed on Feb. 28 after nine years in operation.
Fifth Frame Brewing Co. in Irondequoit announced its closing on Jan. 1. K2 Brothers has closed its second location in a former elementary school in Wayne County, and its Empire Boulevard bar closed in November. Naples Brewing Co. in Ontario County and Heroes Brewing Co. in Rochester will also close in 2025.
Copper Leaf Brewing in Pittsford initially closed in 2025
Copper Leaf Brewing Co. opened in 2021 in the village of Northfield Common in Pittsford, with original owners Bryan Meyer, Jason Meyer and Clay Killian.
It closes on February 28, 2025.
The brewery is named after an iconic copper beech tree in the heart of Pittsford village, which is believed to be over 200 years old. The tree was removed in 2018.
Here’s what Copper Leaf’s original owners had to say when they made their closing announcement public.
“Thank you so much for being a part of our Copper Leaf family. We are very grateful for your support over the past four years. Your patronage means a lot to us. We will always remember the great times we shared with you and wish you all the best in the future.” – Jason, Clay, and Brian.
