COMO, Italy (AP) — One of Como’s owners, Indonesian tobacco billionaire Michael Bambang Hartono, has died. He is 86 years old.

Cuomo announced the news Thursday but did not disclose details of Hartono’s death.

“Under the family’s leadership, the club enters a new chapter in its history and we remember his memory with gratitude and respect.”

Hartono and his brother Roberto Budi Hartono took over Como in 2019 while the team was playing in Italy’s fourth tier.

Como, who return to Serie A for the first time in more than two decades in 2024, are in the race for Champions League qualification and currently sit fourth, above the likes of Juventus and Roma.

Its coach is Cesc Fabregas.
