In the National Football League (NFL), this year is the offseason for changing uniforms. The Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons have both recently launched new venues, and now the Washington Commanders are joining the ranks.
Of course, Commanders aren’t doing a full-blown rebrand or anything. Instead, the team is returning to its roots, re-wearing fan-favorite Super Bowl-era uniforms. Players had a chance to see the new look on Wednesday ahead of the team’s unveiling party, and the team account posted their reactions.
“You all did this,” declared freshman cornerback Amik Robertson. “This color here reminds me of No. 21 Sean Taylor, the best.”

Veteran Jeremy Reaves, who has been with Washington since 2018, is excited to bring back the traditional look.
“Classic, I’m definitely going to love it,” Reeves said, holding up his new home jersey. “If you knew you knew it. I miss this so much.”
Reeves is unique because he has played with the Washington Redskins, Washington Football Team and Washington Commanders. The veteran has worn a few different uniforms, but has said in the past that he prefers the traditional Super Bowl-era look.
The new black uniforms also left a deep impression on the team. Wide receiver Treylon Burks declared black jerseys his favorite, while new linebacker Leo Chenal declared black helmets “all kinds of funky.”

The new uniforms seem to have the best of both worlds. They satisfy fans who miss the way they were when they were kids, while also maintaining their new “Commander” identity. Now that the appearance has been improved, hopefully the on-field performance will also improve in 2026.
