The funniest part about this Los Angeles Clippers game is that it was so strange, so puzzling, that Clippers guard Jordan Miller was confused by the call.

Somehow, he and teammate Kris Dunn had been transported into an alternate universe that took them a while to realize they’d screwed up.
They faced the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, and the clock was stopped on an inbounds pass at the end of the third quarter. They wanted to save time, so as Dunn prepared to catch the ball, Sanders rolled the ball in front of him.

This is where things get weird.
For whatever reason, Dunn just jogged onto the floor. Sanders was the only one close to the ball.
So after it rolled for a while, Sanders picked it up himself.

Once the whistle blows, it’s a violation. You cannot enter the country on your own. The ball must touch other objects first.
It was the Rockets’ mistake, and Sanders couldn’t believe it.

Indeed, almost everyone who has played basketball at any level knows how this works. This is such a stupid mistake that it’s hard to believe it happened.
But there it was, captured for the world to see.
The Clippers lost the game 102-95. Alperon Sengon actually scored on the ensuing possession late in the third quarter, so the turnover cost Los Angeles at least two points.
