Chelsea player’s words will infuriate fans – they will never win a title thinking like this

Chelsea goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez spoke to the media following Saturday’s draw with the Blues and many fans were unhappy with what they heard.

Sanchez himself was called up several times and was our man of the match.

“We are disappointed that we could not win,” the Spaniard was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“With the loss in the last game we wanted to redeem ourselves and get three points and a clean sheet. We created chances and I thought we played well, we missed that goal but we kept the clean sheet and we didn’t lose the game.

“If you can’t win, try not to lose and that’s what we do. We’re going to take this point and we’re going to go into the next game and try to get three points.”

To be honest, while we appreciate what he said – and he was only echoing something his manager has said before – this kind of comment just goes to show how far the club’s standards have fallen.

Can you imagine one of our top title-winning players under Jose Mourinho or Antonio Conte saying a draw against Bournemouth was acceptable? Standards have dropped and need to be restored or we will never see Stamford Bridge lift the Premier League title again.

In other news…

Alejandro Garnacho was good on the left wing last night – that’s pretty much the only positive thing you can take from our offense, which is completely toothless despite Cole Palmer returning.

If you really dig deeper, you can find one positive from the game – our defensive pairing managed to keep a clean sheet, continuing to cement the Chalobah-Fofana duo as our best combination.
