Dangerous inmate escapes from North Carolina’s Edenton detention center

EDENTON, N.C. (WAVY) – Inmate Charles Edward Babb escaped from the Chowan County Detention Center in Edenton, North Carolina, around 8:10 p.m. Sunday.

Barb, 23, is considered dangerous and possibly armed. He is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit.

He has a teardrop tattoo under his right eye.

Barb was last seen near Bridge Turn Exxon in Edenton.

Authorities urge the community to lock all doors and windows and stay indoors to ensure your safety. They advise against approaching or touching Barb.

Officials advise calling 911 immediately if you spot him or notice unusual activity.

His escape triggered a serious public safety alert, with residents advised to take precautions to protect themselves.
