With Sunday’s playoff game looming against the Patriots, the Chargers began their practice week Wednesday without running back Omarion Hampton out with an ankle injury.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Hampton is “working through it” and that he is “doing everything he can” to get the ankle better.

Hampton did not participate in full practice last week and did not play in the final regular season game against the Broncos due to the injury. At first it seemed like it was just a precautionary measure since other starters didn’t play, but the situation appears to be more serious.
This goes back to earlier this season, when Hampton suffered a broken ankle in Week 5 against the Commanders, causing him to spend several weeks on injured reserve.
Hampton was a key cog in the team’s offense, rushing for 545 yards and four touchdowns while adding 192 yards and a score on 32 catches.
If Hampton is unable to play this weekend, Kimani Vidal, Hassan Haskins and Jarrett Patterson will remain in the backcourt.
