Williams Formula 1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon have recalled their favorite off-track memory from the 2025 season, when they took part in the Brazilian Grand Prix Drivers Parade in their kit cars around Interlagos.
The riders designed kit cars, one rider per team, with a pickup-style seat in the back for passengers. When Sainz and Albon walked to the grid and figured there was only one car per team, they quickly raced each other to get into the driver’s seat. Eventually, Albon took the wheel and sprinted out on the start/finish straight, only to find they weren’t going as fast as they had hoped.

“It’s still on track, but it’s gone off track. That’s Brazil [drivers’ parade],” Albon said during the Williams game team torque podcast.
Sainz added: “That’s definitely where we laughed the most. It was like we just laughed for five minutes. It was like we couldn’t talk for five minutes.”
Both Albon and his Spanish team-mate spotted the shortcut from Turn 4 to Turn 12 and took full advantage of the opportunity. They ended up finishing third, behind the Alpine and Ferrari kit cars.

“When we know our car isn’t fast, there’s an instinct that’s how to win,” Albon continued, before Sainz added: “The moment we decided to say we’re going to take a shortcut off this track. Instead of 13, we’re going to do five corners and we’re going to cut from wherever we need to at the end of the lap to get to P1. I’m enjoying that.
“From the moment we made the decision to the moment we got to the finish line, there was probably three or four minutes where we couldn’t stop laughing.”
