Cardinals’ Andre Baccellia gives thumbs up after hit on kickoff return left him immobilized on stretcher, hospitalized

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Andre Barcaglia left Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury after being hit on a kickoff return.

Basella showed movement in his feet as medical trainers tended to him on the field. They put him on a stretcher and immobilized his head and neck. Basella gave a thumbs up as he was stretchered off the pitch.

The Cardinals later announced to reporters that Basella was being transported to a Houston hospital for evaluation and had shown mobility in all four limbs. The exact nature of the injury was not initially clear.

Basella was injured while returning a kick late in the second quarter. A bunch of Texans defenders fell on him after a tackle, and it’s unclear from the game video the cause of Basella’s injury.

Basilia’s Cardinals teammates left the sideline and surrounded him on the field, with coaches tending to him.

Barceglia is in his third season as a pro with the Cardinals, working primarily on special teams.
