The Buffalo Bills expect tight end Dalton Kinkaid to be on their roster for at least the next two seasons.
Buried in general manager Brandon Beane’s animated late-season press conference was a note about the tight end. Beane and the Bills must decide this offseason whether to pick up the fifth-year option on Kinkaid’s rookie contract.

The general manager’s answer was almost always “yes.”
“I don’t see any reason why the Bills wouldn’t accept this,” Beane said.
The fifth-year option is only available to first-round picks like Kinkaid.
Teams have the option to add a fifth season to a player’s rookie contract, but must do so before the deadline before the player’s fourth contract year. This means Kincaid is signed through the 2026 season, but would extend to 2027 with an option.
That deadline is May 1 this offseason, but Buffalo appears to have made a decision on Kinkaid, the Bills’ 2023 first-round pick.

It is important to note that players will receive significant salary increases. The amount varies by position, with Over The Cap projecting Kincaid’s payday to jump to $8.989 million, with a salary cap hit of $13.4 million in 2027. Kincaid’s upcoming salary cap hit in 2026 is just $4.2 million.
