Braves News: Holiday doldrums, potential targets, more

Well, we’re mostly still waiting for big things to happen back after the Christmas break, with a few minor trades and Tyler Soderstrom’s extension serving as exceptions. Tatsuya Imai has to sign within the next six days (he would be a good signing for the Braves’ starting pitching needs, although I’m not looking forward to it), and Kazuma Okamoto has to sign within the next eight days. This is at least some guaranteed important action. Hopefully, these changes will spur greater market movement throughout free agency and even the trade market. It does feel like Kotel Marte was traded this offseason, and the trade of some starting pitchers seems inevitable.

MLB News

The Reds traded a rookie to the Marlins for a depth outfielder who has been under team control for four years.

The Reds also signed former top prospect JJ Bleday to a one-year contract worth $1.4 million as they appear to be looking to fill out their outfield with volume.

The Cubs signed Hunter Harvey to a one-year contract.
