Brad Brownell and the Clemson basketball team were coming off their best win of the season on Saturday against undefeated ACC Miami, but the joy didn’t last long as they lost 80-76 in overtime.
The Tigers were ice cold on the field. Justin Porter and Dillon Hunter combined for 5-of-22 shooting from the field, and if you exclude RJ Godfrey’s 7-for-9 shooting, the Tigers shot 38.8% from the field. Brownell had something to say about that.

“The shooting percentage was pretty good, but we took a couple bad 3-pointers.
He then took a closer look at Justin Porter’s performance on the day.
“I thought JP (Justin Porter) took a couple shots at the rim and he probably needed to make one or two.”
The Tigers’ decision was another point Brownell emphasized in the postgame conference.
I just didn’t think we were that sharp and some of the decisions our guards made weren’t that good. “
One loss doesn’t erase everything this group has built, but it does reset the conversation. Early success is never guaranteed, and perfection is never the standard within a project.
