Boreen, Maschmeyer help Goldeneyes snap 3-game skid with 4-0 win over Sirens

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Abby Bolin scored twice and Emerance Maschmeier made 28 saves to lead the Vancouver Goldeneyes to their second win of the season, 4-0 over the New York Sirens on Saturday.

Jenn Gardiner had a goal and an assist and Ashton Bell also scored for Vancouver. Sophie Jaques dished out two assists and Maschmeyer recorded the first shutout in franchise history.

It was Vancouver’s first regular-season victory in franchise history.

New York was eliminated for the first time this season despite taking 20 or more shots for the fifth straight game, beating Vancouver 28-20. Kayle Osborne stopped 16 of Vancouver’s 20 shots.

Both teams are hoping to end their losing streak. Vancouver is currently undefeated at home after losing their past three away games.

Bolling’s second goal of the season gave the Goldeneyes an early lead in the first period, their first of the season.

The Goldeneyes doubled their lead in the first quarter when Bell’s shot went through Osborne’s legs. Gardner took a penalty kick while shorthanded, giving Vancouver another goal to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The score remained level in the second period until Bolling scored her second goal of the night in the third period, her first multi-goal game as a Goldeneye.

On December 17, Siren faced off against the Boston fleet.

The Goldeneyes will host the Ottawa Charge on December 16th.
