When Kawehi Borden isn’t dominating the midrange, Sumner’s star backs are facilitating this game.
The four-star recruit experienced it all Friday in the 4A semifinals at the Tacoma Dome. When the Spartans needed a shot down the stretch, she got it — knocking down a crucial 2-pointer with her hands on her face near the free throw line. Of course, Boden also made free throws.

Her reaction? Almost nonchalantly. This isn’t her first time competing in the Hardwood Classic, which was a key part of Sumner’s run to the 4A championship last year.
Now they are going back.
Boden scored a game-high 28 points and Sumner defeated Lake Washington 52-41 to advance to its second consecutive championship game.
“All the training we did all offseason, all summer was for this,” Boden said.
It’s a championship rematch: Sumner and Davis’ rivalry will resume Saturday night in their fourth playoff matchup in the past two seasons. The Spartans won their first district game last year before the Pirates won their last three games.

“We had a really good game against (Davis), but you can’t do that against them,” Hypa said. “They’re a really good basketball team. We have to play all four quarters.”
What yes New? Sumner forward Raymiah Jackson is the interior force and key player the Spartans lacked last year. The Emerald Ridge transfer posted a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double in Friday’s win.
“Having (Remea) out there rebounding … me and (Olivia Collins) were running around guarding their best player, and to have someone with such a big presence on the defensive board is huge,” Boden said.
Boden scored 28 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. Spartans guard Zoye Reed had five points and Collins had four points.
Lake Washington’s Ashley Uusitalo led the Kangaroos with 13 points.
No. 8 Sumner and No. 1 Davis will face off for the 4A title at the Tacoma Dome on Saturday night at 5 p.m.
