BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The body of a 4-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday in Walker County, Alabama, has been found.
Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith confirmed Friday that Jonathan Boley’s body was found Friday morning a few miles outside his home.
“Like many in our community, we are shocked by this news,” Smith said. “Jonathan was an adventurous boy who loved the outdoors.”
Smith did not provide further details about the case, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

Father charged with chemical endangerment
Boley and his dog Buck were last seen in the woods away from his father’s property off the highway. Wednesday 11:30 a.m. Route 195, Jasper. Boley was wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants and clothes from the TV show “Paw Patrol” when he disappeared as overnight temperatures in the area dropped into the 30s.
Smith said deputies found the dog still alive next to Boley’s body.
Since Boley’s disappearance, his father, Jameson Boley, has been arrested and charged with chemical endangerment and unlawful manufacture of a destructive device. Jameson Boley was arrested for the first time Thursday after law enforcement discovered explosives in his son’s home during a search.
On Friday, District Judge Allison M. Jones set Jameson Boley’s bond at $300,000, saying he “posed a danger to the community” due to the presence of explosives in the home where his children were.
