NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mikayla Blakes scored 35 points as No. 5 Vanderbilt beat No. 2 Alabama 85-60 on Thursday night.
The Commodores finished the regular season with a 16-0 home record for the first time in franchise history.

Vanderbilt (26-3, 12-3 SEC) had a low-scoring second quarter, scoring just eight points and committing seven turnovers, but the Commodores broke the game open in the second half, outscoring Alabama (21-8, 7-8) 31-16.
At the end of the third quarter, Blakes hit a three-pointer with 3 seconds left to push the deficit past 30 points.
Sacha Washington notched 17 points and 10 rebounds for Vanderbilt’s sixth double-double of the season. Freshman Justine Pissott scored 11 points. The Commodores dominated the transition game, scoring 20 fast-break points to Alabama’s five.
With one regular-season game remaining against Tennessee on Sunday in Knoxville, the Commodores are one game ahead of the No. 2 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt broke a tie with fourth-place Texas to move up one spot in the standings with its 12th conference victory.

The Longhorns host No. 23 Georgia later Thursday.
Jessica Timmons scored 16 points and Ta’Mia Scott scored 15 for the Crimson Tide. Alabama slipped to 10th in the SEC standings.
