On January 5, The Vision’s Bron Breakker will challenge CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Netflix’s anniversary special “WWE Raw.” For Punk, this will mark the first title defense of his current reign. Breakker, meanwhile, marks his second attempt at the title since its revival in 2023 and first since he was called up to the WWE main roster.
According to former WWE star Bishop Dyer, the possibility of Breakker replacing Punk on Raw has both pros and cons. However, one may outperform the other.

“I said yes [to Breakker defeating Punk] Because you could take that story to WrestleMania with Punk and Bron,” Dyer said on “Busted Open Radio.” “I think you could get three months out of Bron and CM Punk and people wouldn’t get tired of it. I’m excited because of what it means to see Brown win the title from Punk. Punk is not a placeholder. He’s not someone you put a title on to prepare for someone else. CM Punk is CM Punk. I think it elevates LeBron. “
Dale believes that in addition to allowing Breakker to rise up the WWE hierarchy, the scene of Breakker conquering the “Second City Saint” will also set the stage for more WWE storylines, especially surrounding The Vision. Dyer said it’s natural that Blake’s stablemates, including Bronson Reed and Logan Paul, might be jealous of him, leading to animosity between units.
“Do you see someone get pushed to the back, Bronson Reed, and start fighting with Brown or Paul? [Heyman]? Dell asked. “Logan Paul, we know he wants to be a world champion.” Does that put him in the position where he’s now: ‘Okay, hey, Brown, we’re on the same team. You should give me a chance to earn this title. “

Dales, on the other hand, sees major benefits to Punk retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, one of which involves “Ring General” Gunther.
“I said no, because where does that leave Gunther?” Dale asked. “You just let GUNTHER win this monster game and let [John] Cena is out. Mr. Never Give Up is out. You can’t have him going against R-Truth every week. I love R-Truth to death, but that doesn’t do GUNTHER any favors. It creates sympathy for R-Truth. You need to get GUNTHER somewhere important soon to beat John Cena, so will GUNTHER go to Punk next after Bron on Raw? “

If Breakker defeated Punk on his first try, Dale also worried that the WWE Universe could be severely shut down as a result, leading to a forced heat on the second-generation wrestler. As a result, Dell believes Breakker might be better served by a long-term pursuit of a world title.
“Wouldn’t it be better for LeBron to chase him for a while and give him a bigger moment? I’m not saying Raw isn’t a bigger moment because if we’re honest, I would have had a world title shot at a live event,” Dell said. “Even though it’s Netflix’s anniversary this year, would it hurt for him to win the championship on Raw? Would you like to see him win the championship at WrestleMania? Would it mean more?”
On a personal level, Dale noted that he was a strong advocate for Breakker replacing Punk on Raw due to their previous roles as The Wolf Dogs on WWE NXT. He is also familiar with Breakker’s passion for the wrestling business. Dell isn’t entirely convinced that this makes the most sense from a logistical standpoint.
Interestingly, recent reports indicate that Breakker is the internal favorite to win the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble, suggesting he won’t beat Punk on “Raw” beforehand. As always, though, plans are subject to change.
