Binance CMO Rachel Conlan is leaving the crypto exchange

Rachel Conlan, chief marketing officer (CMO) of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, said she will leave the company next month after three years of helping build the brand.

A Binance spokesperson said via email that former Trust Wallet CEO Eowyn Chen will serve as interim chief marketing officer.

“Serving as Binance’s chief marketing officer has been the honor of my career,” Conlan said in an email. “I am very grateful to He Yi, Richard [Teng] Thank you to the entire leadership team for their confidence in me, and to every member of the team I have the privilege of working with. “

Conlan, who took over in September 2023, is credited with launching the “Crypto” fragrance. The fragrance, also known as “Eau de Binance,” was launched by the exchange in March 2024 to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Prior to joining Binance, Conlan spent a year as global head of brand and partnerships at competitor OKX, working under Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique.

A Binance spokesperson said: “Rachel is an outstanding talent who has left an indelible mark on the company, and after four years of outstanding service, she has decided to step down to focus on her personal priorities.”

Like other big cryptocurrency brands, Binance has signed a series of high-profile partnerships, many of which preceded her tenure. These include footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, Alpine Formula 1 team and social media star Kirby Lame.

This year’s crypto market downturn could hit the wallets of the marketing departments of major crypto companies. Crypto.com, a company that has spent $1 billion to promote its brand, such as renaming the Staples Center, advertising deals with Matt Damon, FI and UFC, said just last week that its chief marketing officer, Steven Kalifowitz, would be leaving the company.

In addition, Zhou Ben, CEO of Bybit, the second largest cryptocurrency exchange, said in a recent interview that he will not renew his F1 sponsorship and is looking for other deals with better business value.

Binance said Conlan’s last day will be June 15 and she will continue to serve as an advisor to support the company through the transition.
