Bengals’ Cole Kmet trade proposal would give Joe Burrow another great target originally appeared on The Sporting News Click here to add Sports News as your go-to source.
There are rumors that the Chicago Bears may consider waiving tight end Cole Kmet. Considering Colston Loveland’s rookie season, especially his connection to young quarterback Caleb Williams, there may not be much reason to make the roster for Kmet.

It’s almost hard to say since he’s played so well for most of his career, but that’s the harsh reality of NFL business.
Trading Kmet will likely require some creativity on the part of the Bears, as he’s a decent player, but not great. Still, there should be some interest, and amid recent trade ideas, he has a chance to join a decent team playing alongside Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chicago receives: 2026 sixth-round pick, 2027 second-round pick
Cincinnati gets: Kmet
“Kmet fits the bill and gives star quarterback Joe Burrow another reliable target in the passing game. The Bears tight end could be viewed as an immediate upgrade over Gesicki, who is on a similar contract. He is a reliable target in the short and intermediate passing game and can help Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins find separation down the field,” SI’s Ethan Hutton wrote.

As a team, Kmet would be in a better position if he was with the Bears. Offensively, however, the Bengals have a lot of threats, so he would fit in well in an offense that can score.
It’s going to be a different situation than what he’s in now, but he’s still in a pretty good spot.
