Battlefield 6 Unveiled With First Look at Campaign, Multiplayer Reveal Event Set for July 31

Battlefield 6, the next entry in Electronic Arts’ long-running military shooter series, has been announced. After years of hiatus and a series of recent leaks, EA took the wraps off its flagship first-person shooter on Thursday, releasing a trailer that showed off explosive urban warfare, the series’ signature destructible environments, and the first look at the single-player campaign. There’s no word on a release date yet, but EA CEO Andrew Wilson said earlier this year that Battlefield 6 would launch in fiscal 2026.

EA announces Battlefield 6

The two-minute long trailer focuses on Pax Armata, a private military company backed by former NATO countries whose malicious goals could spark global conflict. EA says private militias will “lay the foundation” for the multiplayer and single-player campaign, which returns after being absent from Battlefield 2042.

“In Battlefield 6, the series delivers an incredible blend of intense combat, epic warfare, and player freedom,” EA said in a press release. “Blast through walls and destroy buildings to gain a tactical advantage, or take to the skies in the heat of dogfights. Join a war filled with tanks, fighter jets, and massive mop-up battles, but remember: the deadliest weapons are your squad.”

The Battlefield series is known for its vast multiplayer maps that simulate large-scale warfare, allowing players to control tanks, fighter jets, helicopters, and other military vehicles. EA said it will hold a “blockbuster” event to reveal the game’s multiplayer mode on July 31st.

The trailer contains in-engine footage, but no gameplay. It shows the United States under attack, with iconic locations like the Brooklyn Bridge destroyed – very reminiscent of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – and the President of the United States addressing the nation.

Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event

While the trailer seems to focus mostly on what players can expect from Battlefield 6’s single-player campaign, the July 31 event will fully reveal the make-or-break multiplayer mode. EA said the event will be held live with developers from Battlefield Studios, a team of four in-house studios working on next-generation military shooters – Dice, Criterion, Motive and Ripple Effect.

“This is the most important moment in Battlefield history and you don’t want to miss it,” the publisher said in a press release.

“This epic reveal will kick off Battlefield 6’s highly anticipated multiplayer features and showcase why this is the most ambitious game in the series’ history, with an explosive reveal of some of the jaw-dropping maps players will battle on, a host of new and returning modes, and much, much more.”

EA said that following the multiplayer reveal event, streamers and creators will share the first-ever Battlefield 6 gameplay livestream. A follow-up event is scheduled for August 2. The reveal event will be broadcast live on YouTube and Twitch.

Battlefield 6 marks the return of the rival series to Call of Duty after a four-year hiatus. The last game in the series, Battlefield 2042, subverted the familiar formula of the series and did not launch a single-player campaign. After backlash from fans and disappointing sales, EA said it has redesigned the next entry in the series. Battlefield 6 will return fan-favorite 64-player multiplayer maps, the series’ traditional classes, and single-player campaign.

The game is now wishlisted on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game should be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X in fiscal 2026. Some leaks suggest the game will be released in October.
