Barrett leads hot-shooting Raptors to 143-127 victory over Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — RJ Barrett scored 27 points, Sandro Mamukelashvili scored 23 and the Toronto Raptors beat the Utah Jazz 143-127 on Monday night.

Jacoby Walter scored 21 points and Scottie Barnes had 20 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Raptors (40-31) snapped a two-game skid. They remain a half-game ahead of Atlanta for fifth in the Eastern Conference — the top six teams do not need to go through the play-in rounds to qualify for the playoffs.

Utah rookie Ace Bailey scored 37 points and Bryce Sensabaugh came off the bench to score 24 points for Utah (21-51), which has lost six of seven games and been eliminated from the playoffs.

Toronto outscored Utah 49-30 in the third quarter, opening a 29-point gap. Led by Walter and Barrett, the Raptors shot 54% from three-point range (20 of 37) and 61% overall.

Wall made 6 of 8 three-pointers and 7 of 10 field goals. Barrett made 10 of 15 shots, including 4 of 5 three-pointers. He had six assists and no turnovers in 25 minutes.

Jamal Shedd had 15 assists and seven points for the Raptors. Jamison Battle came off the bench to score 17 points and Grady Dick scored 13 points.

Markelle Fultz, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, came off the bench for 16 minutes for the Toronto Raptors in his first NBA game of the season. He scored 2 points on 1-of-5 shooting, 5 assists and 3 turnovers.

The Raptors announced earlier in the day that Fultz, 27, signed a 10-day contract with the Raptors. He has been playing for their G-League affiliate.
