The Baltimore Orioles were one of the most aggressive teams in Major League Baseball this offseason, but still feel like they could use more on the mound. In a mock trade from Sports Illustrated’s Thomas Carrelli, Baltimore would acquire electric right-hander Hunter Green from the Cincinnati Reds in a deal built around average talent.
Orioles receive: Green
Reds receive: Dean Kremer, three top-20 Orioles prospects
“Baltimore really wants to see their team be great again. They have a deep rotation, but not a good one. From Trevor Rogers to Kyle Braddish and Sean Baz, it’s all mid-level starters,” Carelli wrote.
The addition of Green will immediately change any questions the Orioles have about their rotation, both short and long term, as he is one of the best young starters in baseball.

“By adding Green, they get a high-end ace who can lead this young team for the next few years. The Orioles can now strengthen this glaring weakness,” he added.
Green was injured last season but recovered well in the second half. He ended up with a 2.76 ERA in just 107.2 innings and struck out 132 batters. It’s hard to understand why the Reds would move on from him, but if the Orioles can get him in this package, it’s an easy deal to make.
