The threat of severe weather prompted some Augusta-area school systems to cancel or plan online learning days for Monday.
Richmond County will close public schools and district offices, as the school system’s website stated Sunday. Extracurricular activities canceled. School officials noted that they “anticipate high winds and storms Monday morning, which could create hazardous operating conditions for our buses.”
The National Weather Service reports a chance of rain and thunderstorms Monday. “Wind gusts as high as 40 mph are possible,” the weather service noted on its website Sunday night. “The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.”
Aiken County Public Schools noted on its website Sunday night that there will be an online learning day Monday due to the threat of severe weather.
Columbia County Public Schools has planned a professional learning day on Monday, which means students will not be in school.
