Assassin’s Creed Phantoms is getting a new expansion later this year, two years after the game launches in October 2023. Ubisoft has announced a DLC that will add new story chapters and missions, new locations, and other gameplay improvements to the open-world game. Ubisoft said that players who own Assassin’s Creed Phantoms will be able to get the expansion for free. The company is set to release the first expansion for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows next month.
“Assassin’s Creed: Phantoms” DLC announced
Ubisoft has yet to detail the Assassin’s Creed Phantoms expansion, but more information should be revealed closer to launch. Ubisoft announced on its social channels on Saturday that the free DLC is set in 9th-century AlUla, an ancient Arabian oasis city. The scene will mark a new location for Mirage, which is set in ninth-century Baghdad.
In addition to the Arabian locations, the free expansion will add new story chapters, missions, and gameplay improvements. These should be detailed later.

Ubisoft is also planning to release Claws of Awaji, the first expansion for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, next month. The expansion will add over 10 hours of new content, including new areas, story chapters, weapons and abilities, costumes and legendary gear, as well as new enemy factions and bosses. Claws of Awaji will be released on September 14th on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
Assassin’s Creed Phantoms releases on October 5, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. It will then be ported to iPhone and iPad in 2024. The game was recently added to Xbox Game Pass.
“Phantom” tells the story of Bassin ibn Ishaq, a supporting character in “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla”, following his journey from a Baghdad street thief to a master assassin. The game breaks with the series’ recent tradition of sprawling open-world role-playing games, offering a retro feel to older Assassin’s Creed games.
