Attention shifts to Wembley, where Premier League leaders Arsenal are chasing an unprecedented quadruple, where they will challenge Manchester City for their first major trophy of the season.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Trossard said. “It’s one of our goals and I think everyone will be ready for it.

“We are still competing at every level now and we just have to keep taking one game at a time and every game is very important for us so we want to try and win every game.”

Trossard praised his effort: “It was an amazing goal. You could see his quality too, both in and out of the box, the way he shot with confidence and the way he shot it. It’s one of those goals you only score, I don’t know, maybe once or twice in your career. So credit to him and I’m very happy with it.”

Talking about the team’s performance, Trossard added: “We performed well, especially in the first half when we created a lot of chances and dominated.

“I thought we really enjoyed ourselves on the pitch and you could see that and it spread to the crowd as well and I thought we were really good and it was perfect for us. We just had to get the job done and I thought we did it in a really good way.”

Declan Rice scored another goal to set up a quarter-final tie with Sporting Lisbon next month.
