Liverpool drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams have been pretty poor in the Premier League and honestly a draw seems like a fair result.

However, considering how poorly Tottenham have performed over the past few weeks, Sunday’s game should have been a win for Liverpool.
Ultimately, things didn’t work out that way, and the performance cast doubt on the Anfield side’s ability to beat Galatasaray in the Champions League last-16 second leg.
If Liverpool fail to come out of this game with a win then they will need to ask some serious questions and their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League will depend entirely on their performance in the Premier League.
As things stand, that’s far from ideal, which means Arne Slott must do whatever it takes to beat Galatasaray on Saturday, no matter what.

Arne Slott must drop Alexis McAllister from Liverpool’s starting XI against Galatasaray
past few years Alexis McAllister is one of the first players on Liverpool’s roster.
No matter where the Argentinian played, he was always one of the Reds’ hardest workers and was often a level above his teammates.
However, like the rest of the squad, that has been far from the case this season, with the former Brighton man performing well below expectations.
And, Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur was no exception, in fact it was arguably one of his worst games of the season.

From the first minute, the midfielder looked disinterested and whenever he tried to move, it felt like his feet were stuck in cement.
This version of Mike Allister is a far cry from the one Jurgen Klopp brought to Anfield and the same result is likely to happen if Slott doesn’t ax him against Galatasaray on Wednesday.
Alexis McAllister must perform better for Liverpool
The 2025-26 season will be a complete disaster for Liverpool, there is no way to sugarcoat it.
No matter what formation, system or players Slott tried to use, it just didn’t seem to work for the Anfield side, who often ended up struggling.

Liverpool’s midfield is one of the densest areas of their squad, so it wouldn’t make sense for Slott to continue using Mike Allister.
Others, like Curtis Jones, Trey Nyoni, and even Dominic Szoboszlai, could do better.
According to Sofascore, in the 89 minutes the Argentine played, he won just 16 per cent of ground duels and was dribbled past four times.
If this was just a one-time performance, this performance would be acceptable, but in fact, it is another “horrible” performance from Mike Allister and proves how bad he actually is.
Realistically, Jones, Nyoni or Szoboszlai could all end up performing the same way, but at this moment, anything feels better than Mike Allister starting in a must-win game against Galatasaray.
