Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 16, 2026, is a federal and bank holiday celebrating the birthdays of two United States presidents.
On this day that honors America’s first president, George Washington, and its 16th president, Abraham Lincoln (both presidents were born in February), schools will be closed and the mail won’t arrive, but many stores and even some banks will be open.

Is the post office closed on Presidents’ Day?
According to the USPS: “The United States Postal Service will observe Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16. All post office locations will be closed. Regular mail delivery and retail service will resume on Tuesday, February 17.”
Even if your local post office is closed, you can still access many products and services at usps.com and at self-service kiosks in certain locations. There you can get stamps, weigh packages, and more. Many of these kiosks are open 24/7.
Is FedEx open on Presidents Day? Is UPS open? Amazon Prime?
You may have better luck with other package carriers on Presidents Day. FedEx Express will operate on a modified delivery schedule, with FedEx Freight, Office, Customs Critical and Logistics operating as normal on February 16, 2026.
UPS is offering pickup and delivery on Presidents Day, and UPS stores are open. However, due to federal holidays, any Ground Saver or Mail Innovations deliveries will require an additional business day for shipping.
Amazon Prime will deliver as usual on Presidents Day, including same-day delivery where applicable.

Are banks open on Presidents Day?
Most banks will be closed. Including Bank of America, Chase, PNC, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Capital One and other major banks. However, TD Bank remains open.

Costco is open as usual on Presidents Day, but hours vary by location. Most Costco stores will open at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, February 16, 2026, with executive membership hours at 9 a.m. ET.
Use the Find a Warehouse feature on Costco.com to search for Costco holiday hours and closing times for the Costco store nearest you. Each store will list adjusted hours, including Costco gas hours on Presidents Day 2026.
ShopRite will be open during regular business hours, but it’s best to check with your local store.
Stop & Shop, Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Whole Foods and other popular stores will also be open during regular business hours on February 16, 2026.
Is Loews open on Presidents Day? Is Home Depot still open?
Yes, Lowes is open on Presidents Day, with most locations open during regular business hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.). In fact, Lowes is celebrating Presidents’ Day with a variety of merchandise sales, including up to 40% off patio furniture, appliances, lighting and more.
Home Depot will also be open on Presidents Day, mostly during regular hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and will also be offering holiday deals including 40-55% off appliances, rugs, patio furniture and more.
Other home furnishings stores, including IKEA, Hobby Lobby and Macy’s, will also be open during regular business hours.
Will the mall be open on Presidents Day? Short Hills, American Dream, Livingston Mall opening hours.
American Dream Mall in East Rutherford will be open on February 16, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Short Hills Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Livingston Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Paramus Park Mall, Garden State Plaza and Willowbrook Mall will also be open with regular business hours.
Is LabCorp open on Presidents Day?
If you need a blood draw, LabCorp and its affiliated locations are usually open on Presidents Day. Please check the website for appointment availability on February 16, 2026.
Which restaurants are open on Presidents Day?
Most chain food and convenience stores will remain open on Presidents Day. Wawa, 711, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, and more. In fact, according to Door Dash, this is the 14th busiest day of the year for food delivery.
Will the stock market be open on Presidents’ Day?
Stocks will be closed Monday as markets observe a federal holiday.
What else is closed on Presidents Day 2026?
Any business or institution that strictly observes a federal holiday may be closed on Presidents Day. These include post offices, DMVs, libraries, government offices and schools.
