On Wednesday, promoter Eddie Hearn said he was confident Joshua would return to the ring after recovering.
He told Sky Sports: “He needs time physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually before making a decision about his future. I do think he will want to return to the ring but that will be his decision when the time comes.”

“It’s certainly not a conversation I’m going to have with him any time soon. The only conversation is ‘Are you OK?’ Sometimes we find that people will act like they’re OK, but what happened to him wasn’t normal and it’s heartbreaking for everyone involved.
“When the time comes, I’m sure he’ll make a decision and you’ll hear it from him. That’s the only voice you should listen to in that regard and we’ll give him time to make a decision and heal.”
