Another 60-plus-yard field goal taunts New York Giants fans

What happens in Week 18 for the New York Giants…

After losing the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in a Week 17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the Giants still had a chance to secure the top spot with some help last Sunday.

Losing to the Dallas Cowboys and an unlikely win for the Raiders (and a few other dominoes eventually falling), the Giants will have the No. 1 pick in April. As fate would have it, these stars have but one exception: the blue giant itself.

The Giants came out firing, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 34-17, ending their championship hopes before the Raiders game. Maybe that’s why the afternoon result stung a bit.

Ultimately, the Raiders did their part. They defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 14-12, in an ironic way for the Giants.

Since 2014, 21 percent of all field goals of 60 yards or more have come against the Giants. All 21 percent of players played late in the fourth quarter or overtime. So it was only fitting that Las Vegas got the win with a 60-yard field goal — the longest of kicker Daniel Carlson’s career.

Giants fans were understandably frustrated when the ball went through the uprights.

Ultimately, the kick and the Raiders’ win meant nothing to the Giants because the “damage” had been done. Still, it would be a nice change of pace for Giants Nation to be on the right end of a 60-yard field goal.
