A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured when her vehicle crashed into a building on East Amarillo Avenue early Thursday, Feb. 12, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
At approximately 3:07 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 4600 block of East Amarillo Avenue. Police said preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling south on the Fritch Highway when it failed to stop at the intersection before leaving the road and crashing into a building at a local business.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said next of kin have been notified.

Investigators are looking into whether speed and alcohol may have been factors. The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit continues to investigate and will release more information as it becomes available.
