The Rossoneri have remained unbeaten in the past 14 league games, but they have not won against newly promoted Maclemones, Sassuolo and Pisa this season. They only scored 2 points in these three home games.

Today, they face a team in the relegation zone that has won the last two games.

“It’s certainly not an easy game. Verona have pace and skill up front. We need a clean performance and especially not to lose certainty in the game,” Allegri told DAZN via MilanNews.

“We definitely need to improve. In some games we had more possession but didn’t get good results. We have to improve on that and the goals we concede, be more focused.”

With Rafael Leao injured, Christopher Nkunku started for the Rossoneri alongside Christian Pulisic.

“Nkunku has played as a centre-forward and scored some goals. He is adapting. Some players take time to adapt, but he has extraordinary skills; hopefully he can perform well today and score goals.”

As the January transfer window approaches, one of the hot topics at Milan is the future of Mike Maignan, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Allegri on Maignan’s future

“Maignan is important, like all experienced players,” Allegri said.

“The club is working hard for the future to keep Milan at a certain level; of course, important players will renew their contracts. The club is working hard and focused on that.”

Milan are second in the Serie A standings, one point below city rivals Inter Milan. A win today would see the Rossoneri jump to the top of the table ahead of Inter Milan’s trip to Atalanta tonight.
