The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a four-year, $116 million contract with wide receiver Alec Pierce, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Pierce is considered one of the top free agent wide receivers in this year’s class after a breakout season in 2025. Now, he’s been offered a long-term deal to stay in Indy — answering at least one of the Colts’ lingering questions about the offense heading into free agency.

News of Pierce’s extension comes after the team placed the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones on Tuesday. The tag will allow Jones to sign a one-year, $37.833 million fully guaranteed contract in 2026 while allowing him to negotiate with other NFL teams. If he signs an offer sheet with another team, the Colts will have a chance to match the offer. Each NFL team can only place the franchise or transition tag on one pending free agent.
Pierce led the Colts with 1,0,003 receiving yards in 2025, a career-high, and has led the NFL in yards per catch the past two seasons. After failing to top 600 yards and two touchdowns in each of his first two seasons, he took a huge leap in Year 3 in 2024. He totaled 1,827 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns over the past two seasons.
Pierce, 25, was originally selected by the Colts as a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati. At 6-foot-3, 211 pounds, Pierce has the size and upside to serve as a deep threat, which will be critical if he reaches the next level. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Pierce is tied for fifth in deep receiving touchdowns (nine) during the 2025 season and ranks second in deep receiving touchdowns (four).
