Accident on Erie Blvd. W. kills one, area closed, sheriff’s office says

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office tells News Channel 9 that one person is dead after an early morning crash.

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on February 3 between West Genesee Street and South Geddes Street near Tipperary Hill.

While at the scene, a NewsChannel 9 photographer saw a utility pole down and wires hanging low. Investigators can be seen on the video gathering around the area.

According to the National Grid outage map, the section of the road was without power and more than a dozen people were affected.

This area will be closed until further notice. The Sheriff’s Office advises drivers to find alternative routes.
