Brandon Moreno vs. Asu Almabayev won’t be taking place in Mexico City after all.
The UFC Fight Night 268 main event has fallen apart after Almabaev (23-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) was forced to withdraw from a flyweight bout scheduled for February 28 at CDMX Arena. News of the withdrawal was first reported by Ag.Fight and later confirmed by Almabaev on Tuesday, who revealed on Instagram that he had injured his hand.

Almabayev’s post included a photo of himself with his right hand in a cast.
Almabaev, ranked No. 7 in the official UFC rankings at 125 pounds, will look to maintain momentum against former champion Moreno (23-9-2 MMA, 11-6-2 UFC) in pursuit of his third straight victory. Almabaev began 2025 with a loss to Manel Kapp, but bounced back with consecutive wins over Jose Ochoa and former title challenger Alex Perez.
As of this writing, it’s unclear what will happen to Moreno, who will be looking to bounce back from his TKO loss to Piraru in December.
