HAVELOCK COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) – The Havelock Police Department Animal Control Division is asking for the public’s help identifying the owner of a dog that was abandoned in a crate.
The dog was left in a cage outside an abandoned shopping plaza near Sonic on February 4th around 2pm to 4pm in freezing weather. The dog was left outdoors in dangerously cold conditions, posing a serious risk to its health and safety.
Animal Control has secured the dog and it is receiving appropriate care.
Havelock Police Department asks you to report the following:

Witnessed someone leaving dog crates in the area

Observed any suspicious activity near the abandoned shopping plaza

Recognize the dog or know who its owner may be.
This investigation is ongoing.
