Aaron Rodgers has strong message for media on Mike Tomlin discussions

The topic of discussion surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers in recent weeks has been head coach Mike Tomlin’s future with the team and whether his tenure in the Steel City needs to end.

The former Super Bowl champion is currently in his 19th season with the Steelers, where he has enjoyed a long and successful spell. But after making the playoffs eight times and advancing to the Super Bowl in his first 11 years with the team, Tomlin has led the Steelers to just four playoff appearances since the 2018 season and the team has lost five of its first seven games heading into Sunday’s showdown with the Ravens. Whether he should remain in his position after this season has been a hot topic.

However, the Steelers managed to take the pressure off their head coach against Baltimore, with a 27-22 victory over the Ravens to secure a commanding lead in the AFC North and a better position as a playoff team next January. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers seemed unhappy with all the talk about Tomlin in recent weeks when asked what the win meant after discussions over the past week.

“Maybe you guys will shut up for a week,” Rogers responded to the question.

Rodgers, who went 23-of-34 for 284 yards and one touchdown in the win, may have grown tired of all the talk from Tomlin about potentially ruining the playoffs as he tries to find a happy ending for his new team after a late-career turmoil that saw him play for three teams in four seasons. He has thrown for more than 2,300 yards through the air and 20 touchdowns this season and is clearly looking to focus on the game at hand with so much to play.

Rodgers commented on all the hubbub that there is indeed a 2027 team selection that must be decided before March 1 of this upcoming offseason. So while Tomlin will be back next season unless he chooses not to return, a big decision about his future is coming — whether Rodgers wants to hear it or not.
