Sony on Tuesday announced a beta testing program for PS5 and PC games, as well as other PlayStation experiences. Dubbed the PlayStation Beta Program, the program will serve as a centralized platform for users to sign up for beta experiences of future PlayStation games, PS5 features, PlayStation app features, and more. Registration for the program is now live, and players can sign up to express interest in any of the upcoming PlayStation betas.
Sony launches new beta program
PlayStation’s beta program, announced Tuesday on the PlayStation Blog, will provide users with a unified way to express their interest in various future beta experiences. While Sony has conducted separate beta tests of its games and experiences on its platform in the past, the new plan will bring a unified hub for beta testers. Users only need to sign up for the program once to gain beta access to games, console features, and more.
“PlayStation’s Beta Program will create a simple, centralized place for you to register your interest in a range of future PlayStation Betas,” the announcement states. “With a single Beta Program registration at PlayStation, you can express your interest in gaining Beta access to test participating games on PS5 console and PC, new PS5 console features, PlayStation App features, and even user experience features on PlayStation.com.”
Once players sign up for the program, they can choose to participate in specific betas if invited. To sign up for the new beta program, players must have a valid PlayStation Network (PSN) account, live in a supported region, and meet region-specific age requirements.
PlayStation’s beta program launches on Tuesday, and it’s free for eligible users to join. Interested players can register at playstation.com/beta-program-at-playstation/. It’s worth noting that due to the large number of players, simply signing up for a beta test does not guarantee an invitation to a specific beta test.
