Fermin Lopez reveals how Hansi Flick change helped Barcelona overcome Newcastle in Champions League

Fermín Lopez revealed how Hansi Flick helped Barcelona beat Newcastle in the Champions League and gave some advice during half-time.

Barcelona led 3-2 at the break thanks to Lamine Yamal’s late penalty, and Fermin said Flick made specific demands of him at the start of the second half.

“Flick asked me to help organize the offense because they were man-to-man,” he said.

“If we can overcome the pressure line, we can attack space and that’s what I tried to do. It worked well and we were able to have a good game.

“The first half was a little difficult for us. They put a lot of pressure on us and we lost possession but we had our chances, but in the second half we controlled the game more.”

After halftime, Firmin played a key role as Barcelona scored with Lopez’s goal and rewritten the score to 4-2. The goals continued, and Lopez said the victory was a huge confidence booster.

“We leave with a very good feeling. We scored seven goals. It’s a pity that we conceded two. We played well but there are still things to correct. This should help us gain more confidence in the next round,” he added.

Barcelona will now turn their attention back to La Liga and Sunday’s clash with Rayo at Camp Nou.
