Bears trade rumors tracker: Who could be on the move?

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of an important offseason as they look to strengthen their roster at some important positions. But general manager Ryan Poles still has a lot of work to do to address salary cap issues before free agency next month, which could mean making some tough decisions through cuts or trades.

With free agency approaching and the NFL Scouting Combine kicking off, trade talk and rumors are swirling around the Bears, who appear to be open to business. Whether on offense or defense, there have been some notable starters who have been the subject of trade discussions, whether it’s teams allowing players to seek trades or NFL teams calling to check on their availability.

We’re tracking all the latest trade rumors involving the Bears ahead of March free agency.

Shorts allow Tremaine Edmunds to seek trade

According to Brad Biggs, the Bears are allowing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to seek a trade this offseason, which isn’t surprising considering he’s the top candidate to be a salary cap victim with a $17.43 million cap hit in the final year of his contract in 2026. If Chicago can somehow acquire a late-round pick on a player they can cut, it would be a win for general manager Ryan Bolles.

Bears get call on DJ Moore

There has been a lot of trade speculation surrounding wide receiver DJ Moore, who is expected to hit a $28.5 million salary cap hit in the 2026 offseason. General manager Ryan Poles addressed trade rumors surrounding Moore at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday. While praising Moore, Pole also acknowledged that the Bears must keep their options open when it comes to trade discussions. While Pole heaped praise on Moore and said the team expects him to stay in Chicago next season, we’ve seen how quickly things can change. This is sure to be a storyline to watch throughout the offseason.

Tyson Bargent earns trade interest

General manager Ryan Boles said backup quarterback Tyson Bargent has attracted trade interest this offseason because the team has “received some calls.” Polans said “it was a very tough decision for us” given how he and head coach Ben Johnson felt about Bargent. Last summer, Bargent signed a two-year, $10 million contract extension. While Caleb Williams looks like the franchise quarterback, it’s also important to have reliable backup because you never know what might happen. Chicago is weighing its options of keeping Bargent on the roster to solidify the backup job and give Bargent a chance to compete for a starting job elsewhere.

Ask Gervon Dexter if he has any available teams

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the team has inquired with Chicago about trading defensive tackle Gervon Dexter because the free agent and the 2026 NFL Draft class are not that deep this offseason. Dexter, 24, started all 17 games for the Bears last season and totaled 44 tackles, including six tackles for loss, six sacks, 11 quarterback hits and two fumble receptions. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, but with Chicago already in need of a defensive tackle, trading Dexter would have to be a good offer.
