Lynch offered a more optimistic view of the situation. He said he had a “very good, productive and substantive meeting” with Williams and his agent regarding the contract and expressed optimism that a solution will be found to keep Williams with the team.
“All I know is this: Trent loves being a Niner,” Lynch said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “We like Trent as the number nine. And it’s Let us solve itand then thread. We all know what kind of player Trent is and how great a player he is in some unique situations. He’s going to be 38 soon, so, there’s some things that will come into play with that, but I think we’re all on the same page and I feel very positive about how things are going. “
Lynch’s positive outlook on where things are headed doesn’t mention how close things might be to the finish line, a point they’ll need to get to fairly quickly to ensure Williams remains with the team next season.
