Apple News+ Adds Emoji Game for Subscribers Ahead of World Emoji Day

Apple News+ has added a new emoji game for subscribers in two countries. The launch of the new puzzle app coincides with World Emoji Day on Thursday. Users must complete three phrases to solve the puzzle, and the goal is to use as few moves as possible. Puzzles will also be updated daily, just like Wordle and other games offered by publications like The New York Times. The iPhone maker is also providing access to four other puzzles.

How to play the emoji game on Apple News+

The emoji game is now available to Apple News+ subscribers in the United States and Canada, and the company hasn’t revealed whether it plans to bring it to users in Australia and the United Kingdom. This is the fifth puzzle game launched on the company’s news app. Other games available to those who subscribe to Apple News+ include Crossword, Mini Crossword, Quartile and Sudoku.

To play the new emoji game, you need to have an active Apple News+ subscription. You can click The following Tabs in the News app on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac computer to launch games and view the day’s challenges.

To successfully complete the challenge, you must solve three phrases displayed on the screen. You can drag the emoji at the bottom of the screen while moving as little as possible. The app can also show you a clue underneath an incomplete phrase, but requesting a clue counts as one move.

Subscribers can also track emoji game statistics and winning streaks on Apple News+, the company said. Leaderboards on Game Center also allow users to compete with friends who have also played daily challenges.

Apple News+ isn’t the first platform to add built-in puzzle and game support. News publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Telegraph also allow subscribers to play number and crossword puzzles, with some platforms including leaderboards.
