That will change on Sunday as Shiffrin will compete in the women’s giant slalom, her second Olympic event to date. Shiffrin has previously competed on the combined alpine ski team with Breezy Johnson, but this is her first time competing alone.
Shiffrin also has a long history in giant slalom, winning gold in 2018 and finishing fifth in 2014. However, in 2022, Shiffrin did not complete her first race, one of her many DNFs in Beijing.
