Hall scores 31, Overton adds 25 as Auburn overcomes 14-point deficit, beats Texas 88-82

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Keyshawn Hall scored 31 points, Kevin Overton made five 3-pointers and scored 25 points, and Auburn overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Texas 88-82 on Wednesday night.

Hall has attempted 141 free throws this season (tied with Oakland’s Brody Robinson for the most in Division I) and has made 14 of 17 free throws. Elijah Freeman scored 10 points for Auburn.

Dailyn Swain hit two free throws to tie the game at 60 with 8:22 left, but Hall scored 13 points on a 16-7 run to give the Tigers a 79-69 lead with 2:14 left, tying their largest lead of the game.

Auburn (14-7, 5-3 SEC) has won four straight, including the Tigers’ first victory at Florida State since 1996, a 76-67 victory last time out.

Swain of the Texas team scored 30 points on 10 of 16 shooting (12 of 9, 3 of 5), and Camden Hyde, who made 5 three-pointers, also scored 17 points. Jordan Pope and Matas Vokititis each scored 12 points. Tramon Mack averaged 13.8 points per game this season and shot 50% from the field. He made 2 of 13 shots and 0 of 6 three-pointers, scoring 4 points.

Hyde and Swain each hit three-pointers and started a 10-1 spurt. With 9 minutes and 01 seconds left in the first half, Texas led 27-13.

Hall and Overton hit consecutive three-pointers and launched a 15-5 climax to tie the score at 52. Freeman’s jumper gave the Tigers their first lead (56-55) since 5-3 with 11:32 left in the game.
