DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg was ruled out of the second half against Denver after spraining his left ankle in the first half Wednesday night.
Flagg was called for a foul while guarding Peyton Watson and went down with a sprained ankle with 6:01 left in the second quarter. Flagg limped to the bench and continued to the locker room, but returned with the final 2 minutes and 35 seconds before halftime.

The 19-year-old did not leave the dressing room during the second half before being announced as absent from the game. Flagg injured the same ankle two days earlier, left briefly to be bandaged, then returned and scored 27 points in Dallas’ 113-105 victory over Brooklyn.
It was Flagg’s 40th game, three more than his lone season at Duke, when he led the Blue Devils to the Final Four and was named the Associated Press Men’s Player of the Year.
Flagg missed one of the Mavericks’ first 41 games due to illness in November. The Rookie of the Year contender averaged 19.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
