Another key part of the Chicago Bears defense will return from injury this weekend. The Bears plan to activate linebacker Tremaine Edmunds from injured reserve ahead of Saturday’s crucial game against the Green Bay Packers, according to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.
Edmunds suffered a groin injury in the team’s 19-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings and has missed the past four games. The Bears designated him to return earlier this week, and he’s progressing well in practice. Now, it appears he will take the field this Saturday to help the Bears continue their push for the playoffs.

The veteran linebacker was coming off a career year with the Bears before Edmonds’ injury. In 10 games, Edmonds totaled 89 tackles, three for a loss, one sack, nine passes defensed and four interceptions. Despite missing four games, Edmonds’ four interceptions tied for third among all NFL players.
Edmonds has been a key player in defensive coordinator Dennis Allen’s system when healthy and is now reunited with T.J. Edwards. The two players, signed as free agents in 2023, have great chemistry together but haven’t played in the same game since Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bears allowed 28 points on defense two weeks ago, and now they need Edmonds to help limit Green Bay’s offense. He will likely rotate with linebackers D’Marco Jackson and Noah Sewell throughout the game.
