Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix 2023: Timings in India, How to Watch

Just a week after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Formula 1 will return to the Miami Grand Prix for the fifth round of the 2023 F1 Championship. The race weekend begins on Friday, May 5 (Saturday, May 6 in India) and runs until Sunday, May 7 (Monday, May 8 in India). In addition to the main race, the F1 race includes three practice sessions and qualifying, all taking place during the weekend. Red Bull Racing maintains its lead in the Constructors’ Championship thanks to strong performances from both drivers.

However, Max Verstappen’s lead in the drivers’ championship is just six points behind team-mate Sergio Perez, whose double in Azerbaijan gave him a total of 33 points. The Miami Grand Prix takes place at the Miami International Speedway, a temporary purpose-built track located around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. This is the first of three F1 races to be held in the United States in 2023. It’s worth noting that there are no support series races taking place in Miami this weekend, with only F1 on the calendar.

2023 Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix: What to Expect

Red Bull Racing has performed well in all four races of the 2023 Formula 1 season so far, finishing well ahead of nearest rival Aston Martin F1 in the Constructors’ Championship. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are locked in a fierce battle for the championship lead, while Fernando Alonso retains third place.

Ferrari made a poor start to the season but have pulled back after a good result in Azerbaijan to remain firmly in contention for second place in the constructors’ championship. Charles Leclerc himself is likely to challenge for third place in the driver’s championship, and Ferrari is also expected to make upgrades to the car this weekend. Mercedes seemed to struggle in Azerbaijan, being beaten by Ferrari and Aston Martin in round four.

This is only the second time the Miami Grand Prix has been held, with the inaugural edition in 2022 won by Max Verstappen. The race is held on a temporary, purpose-built Miami International Circuit circuit, so the action will not be as intense as street circuits such as Baku City Circuit, which hosts the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on April 30. This year’s F1 races are also planned to be held in Austin, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first time that F1 has held three races in a single season in the United States.
