5-star QB and Georgia commit Jared Curtis says he’s not talked to Bulldogs or Vanderbilt after reported flip to Commodores

Will five-star quarterback Jared Curtis stay at Georgia or commit to Vanderbilt?

Hours after The Rival reported that Curtis would change his commitment to stay in Nashville and play for the Commodores, Curtis said he has not had conversations with Georgia or Vanderbilt. The early signing period for high school seniors begins Wednesday.

Curtis is the No. 3 overall prospect in the country by The Rivals, the No. 2 quarterback nationally, and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee. He has been committed to Georgia since May.

“Elite player with creative playmaking ability,” director of opposing scouting Charles Ball said of Curtis. “Looks like 2026 Top arm talent in the cycle. Generates considerable velocity when throwing to all areas of the field. Able to make impressive passes from multiple arm angles and doesn’t require a two-foot setup to throw. Makes accurate passes. Plays with a gunner’s mentality and isn’t afraid to shoot the football into tight windows in the middle of the field. A smooth player who is difficult to contain in the backfield and has some incredible secondary reflexes at a young age, dodging pass rushers and breaking 50 downfield. yards or more.”

If Curtis does change his commitment, he would be the highest-ranked player to sign with the Commodores out of high school. Curtis attended Nashville Christian High School, and the Commodores have an opening at starting quarterback with Diego Pavia’s eligibility expiring at the end of the 2025 season.

Vanderbilt went 10-2 in the regular season and signed head coach Clark Lee to a six-year contract extension over the Thanksgiving break. Leah was considered a potential prospect at LSU and Florida — the Tigers hired Lane Kiffin from Mississippi and Florida hired Tulane’s Jon Sumrall — as Vanderbilt posted double-digit wins for the first time in its history.

Curtis’ commitment will keep Vanderbilt ranked No. 30 nationally, according to Rivals. He will also be the only five- or four-star player currently in the program, with 19 three-star players set to sign with the Commodores. Georgia, meanwhile, has a top-five team that includes five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro and 19 four-star prospects, and the Bulldogs will play Alabama on Saturday for the SEC championship.
