One of the top running backs in the Class of 2027 for the 2025 high school football season in Tennessee is taking his talents to Sevier County (Tenn.).
Junior running back Brayden Maples has transferred from Gatlinburg Pittman (Tenn.) to Sevier County for his senior season, Shayne Pickering of The Hoosier reports. Maples is one of the state’s leading rushers and helped the Highlanders win the TSSAA Class 3A state championship game in December.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound running back is coming off a stellar junior season at Gatlinburg Pittman, where he rushed for 1,271 yards on 174 carries and scored 27 times. Coincidentally, Maples rushed for the same amount of yards in 2024, with 1,271 yards and 20 scores, according to MaxPreps.

Maples’ current college offers include offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Miami (Ohio) and Memphis.
Sevier County finished last season with a 13-2 record and was the No. 21 team in the state, according to Tennessee’s 2025 Massey final high school football rankings.
