Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency ahead of a winter and ice storm set to hit the state this weekend.

Some forecasters warned that the storm, which could stretch from Texas to the Carolinas, “could be catastrophic.”

If you recall, Cruz did something similar in 2021, fleeing to Cancun, Mexico, when millions lost power during a devastating and deadly winter storm.

A spokesman for Ted Cruz said in a statement to The Daily Beast, “Senator Cruz is currently on a work trip that was scheduled weeks ago. He will return to Texas before the storm hits.”
