The Buccaneers’ free agency class is both interesting and critical to their success in 2026. As Jason Licht has shown, he can be aggressive, but spending a lot of money in free agency doesn’t look like him. He does, however, tend to hold on to talent in Tampa Bay that he believes is developing well or arriving and making a splash.
With the table set up, here’s a free agent preview.

Player summary
Cade Orton will be a difficult conversation for the Bucs front office over the next few weeks. He wasn’t used as a tight end in the Buccaneers’ offense, but he was a reliable cog in the offense as a blocker and safety valve for Baker Mayfield. His projected contract value could make him an option, while the depth at tight end in the 2026 NFL Draft could complicate things. He’ll likely be back, but there will still be some tough conversations ahead.
